Plan Description:

Walk-in Wardrobe is a vintage and pre-loved clothing market event - think Camberwell market, but indoors and for charity! We hope to raise $2000 for CLOWN DOCTORS. Stallholders include vintage fashion experts, friends and colleagues selling clothing, accessories and footwear. At least 20% of their proceeds are donated to charity. In 2010 we raised more than $2000 for YoungCare Australia, well-exceeding our $1000 target Founded by Angie Dimitriou and Meg Rayner, Walk-In Wardrobe is a locally-run fashion market raising money for charity. We also hope to promote sustainable clothing and great networking opportunities. This year the event will be on Sunday October 30 from 11am to 2pm at BODA HAIRCUTTERS 183 Greville Street Prahran. Just in time for the Spring Racing Carnival so people can pick up some great fashion items without spending too much + a percentage goes to charity so it’s GUILT FREE SHOPPING!

My Big reasons are:

We firmly believe charity begins at home, so we're starting small and hope one day to host national events! Last year a news item on YoungCare Australia broke our hearts and inspired us to reach out and help others in our community instead of acting selfishly. We are also keen to promote recycling and reuse of clothing and other items, and in doing so supporting sustainability.

My plan will be a success when:

We smash through our $1000 fundraising target. Last year we more than doubled our target but this year we're only doing one day instead of three, so this goal will be much harder to achieve.

My plan success story

1. Now you’ve marked your plan a success, what about it makes you most proud?

We're still counting all the donations and coins in the tins that people gave us, but so far we've raised more than $1500. We're just stoked with all the support from PlanBig, Bendigo Bank, our amazing stall holders and everyone that came on the day.

2. What challenges did you face on your journey and what have you learned?

We struggled to make ends meet with all the costs involved, but we were lucky to secure an article in That's Life that paid $300 allowing us to buy the things we needed.

3. What are some ways that PlanBig has helped you?

We are so grateful for the support form PlanBig, not only online but the people that came along on the day and volunteered their time to host a stall, sell raffle tickets, set up and ESPECIALLY the amazing calico bags you gave us which kept our event plastic bag free, improving our sustainability.

4. Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Keep an eye out for the next Walk-in Wardrobe. The support has been overwhelming so there's a chance we'll have another one in six months time.
