Plan Description:

I have started a team in relation to the Ride to Conquer Cancer, that is going to ride over 200km in one weekend from the middle of Melbourne UP into the Yarra Valley and then back again. In order for the 6 members of my team (Muppets on Wheels) to ride, we need to raise $2,500 each. so far we have raised just over $3,500 so we are certainly getting there. The ride takes place on the 27th & 28th October 2012

If possible i would love to see individual branches run a particular fundraising event of their choosing and provide the donations to the team.

We are also looking for a MAJOR sponsor to provide the team with at least a $1000 donation that would enable the riders to get riding gear made up that would advertise that particular business.

Any donations - large or small are greatly welcomed and can be made directly into a bank account, that will given upon request.

We have several events planned to raise funds and details of those can be found on our facebook page, the address is http://www.facebook.com/#!/muppetsonwheels.

The next event is being held on Sunday 24th June 2012 at the Bridge Hotel in Bendigo. for $35 you get 3 hours of beer, house wine, soft drink and nibbles. Confirmed yesterday we also have local band ' Birdhouse' performing. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Tickets available at the venue or from me. Just let me know how many you need.

My Big reasons are:

The six riders that are doing this ride have personally been touched by Cancer in one way or another. Everyday there are more and more families that are having to deal with the diagnosis and then treatment plans that are designed to get rid of the disease.

Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute is making great in roads in the research for a cure, and every dollar that they receive will certainly assist them.

"It could be your dollar that finds the Cure".

It is certainly a big task to train and the complete the ride - however it is absolutely nothing compared to someone faced with the battle against this disease.....Please assist if you can. Even advice is greatly appreciated if you have some ideas for fundraising.

My plan will be a success when:

There are several levels to my plan. The first level is to get all 6 riders qualified to do the ride. That will be success numbver 1.

Success number 2 is when the ride is completed by all 6 muppets.

The third and most important success is - not if - but when we beat this disease.

My plan success story

1. Now you’ve marked your plan a success, what about it makes you most proud?

To be part of the single biggest fundraising event in Australian History - raising $6.2million in one go that went to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Research Department

2. What challenges did you face on your journey and what have you learned?

The biggest challange was coming up with ideas for fundraising so that we were not asking the same members of the community to donate all of the time

3. What are some ways that PlanBig has helped you?

Plan Big was awesome, to be able to promote what we were doing and to also get advice from others doing the same type of thing we extremely instrumental in my team achieving its goal and even surpassing it.

4. Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I would encourage anyone that is running an event to consider using Planbig as the experience and the willingness to share from the people registered on PlanBig will certainly assist in the event being a fantastic success.
