Plan Description:

KI Dolphin Watch in partnership with the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, is a longitudinal school / community project, developing an understanding of custodianship of these fascinating creatures, creating a photographic identification catalogue, unobtrusively monitoring dolphins and their habitats, facilitating data input from a range of sources.

My Big reasons are:

KI Dolphin Watch Charter: •reengaging students, teachers and volunteers in education •contributing to knowledge and understandings about cetaceans in our environment •developing a baseline position with respect to population groups and habitat around the coastline •protecting dolphins, whales and their environment •assisting other communities to develop similar cetacean protection and study programs •providing personal growth and leadership opportunities for youth

My plan will be a success when:

We are developing greater understandings of the dolphins around Kangaroo Island and their home range, contributing to global knowledge regarding cetacean protection, conservation and welfare, with an overall aim to provision of sanctuaries.
