Operation Angel
Together, we can spread our wings far and wide. Operation Angel is a rapid response, community and volunteer support organisation that mobilises in time of emergency and disaster. A not-for-profit, secular, humanitarian organisation founded in 1997 by Jacqueline Pascarl, it was reinvigorated during the 2009 Victorian Bushfires, and in 2011 responded to the Queensland Floods, Cyclone Yasi and the Christchurch earthquake. Operation Angel has no paid staff and relies on volunteers and the generosity of corporate plus individual donations of goods and services - not money. Not yet a registered charity but a well networked non-profit, Operation Angel is lateral thinking and uses the media and a highly engaged social media support base to call out for vital items like gumboots, mozzie coils, new knickers, tools, disinfectant, sheets and towels. The amazing responses received enable Operation Angel to help meet the needs of disaster-struck communities.
