Plan Description:

Discordia Zine is an online space for women- the women the mainstream media usually ignores! We want a place for women who do things differently can come together and read articles relevant to their lives, meet women who celebrate diversity and enjoy being ourselves. Unique, special, creative, intelligent and compassionate women! 

In keeping with covering things that usually get left behind, we want to cover- 

* women as single parents, same sex parents or non parents

* creative, freelance and startup women

* remove the seperation between straight and gay

* capture the stories of women who do things a little differently

* reinvigorate feminism and talk about the things that matter

 

 

My Big reasons are:

The aim of Discordia is to: 

  • Provide an alternative source of media, commentary and community for women currently not catered for;
  • Celebrate diversity and encouraging women to be themselves without having to fit in, justify it or feel judged for not “fitting in”;
  • Investigate the different kinds of lifestyle women can enjoy;
  • Tackle the issues the other forms of media tend to leave alone that women care about;.
  • Remove the barriers for women by creating a post Riot Grrl movement that uses similar means to convey messaging- music, graffiti, film, creative arts, speaking your mind, not watering down opinion;
  • Embrace creativity;
  • Move the focus away from the visual look of what it is to be a women to celebrating the essence of what a woman is;
  • Give women a voice where there is currently not one available. 

 

My plan will be a success when:

We have 150 followers on Facebook, 1000 on Twitter and women regularly go to www.discordia.com.au to respond to the articles, share them with friends and enjoy the conversation!
