Plan Description:

The Big Feed is a start-up social enterprise (based on a digital business model) on a mission to create a community of passionate people who enjoy food, drink, culture, fun and giving, who will act to improve the health of young people and help them realise their own potential. The Big Feed develops innovative (ie kickass cool relevant) educational resources, improves kitchen/garden facilities and delivers integrated programs addressing independent living, literacy, cultural awareness, gardening, health, fitness, finance, aspirations and resilience, in collaboration with other organisations. The Big Feed will encourage, facilitate and provide opportunities for young people and the not-for-profit sector to become entrepreneurs using our online marketplace as a business platform.

My Big reasons are:

Too many young people are simply not well – they are obese, diabetic, addicted to alcohol or drugs, experiencing metal illness, tooth decay or chronic disease. The Big Feed youth health initiatives will target young people / young carers / young parents who are currently experiencing social, economic and geographic exclusion or disadvantage. Our ambition is for these young people to experience and value lifelong learning outcomes, believe in their capacity to acquire knowledge and develop an intrinsic motivation to commit the time and effort required to make substantial gains in learning and sustained behavioural change.

My plan will be a success when:

Our goal in 2012 is for 100 registered individual Big Feed Hosts, having fun, eating good food, raising an average of $100 each, because they believe in our cause. We also want to have 100 traders opt for a stall in our marketplace to launch their own online food-related business and fund our capacity to do good deeds.
