Plan Description:

I want to give my kids the best opportunity to live in a safe, low-carbon world. I have decided to tour by bike around Australia, providing tips to people on what to do to minimise their energy use and help them save money.

My Big reasons are:

Climate Change is an issue that, if not addressed in a timely manner, has the potential to be a 'deal-breaker'. It has been known about for over 30 years and, in that time, very little has been done to address the consequences of living beyond our carbon ‘budget’. Current government action has been both too slow & ineffective. This needs to change and change rapidly if we are to head off the worst effects of climate change. Other reasons for doing this: My family's continuing safety & security; It's the right thing to do; If we don't, we may have no future on this planet.

My plan will be a success when:

My plan will be a success when I succeed in getting 500,000 online signatures of people supporting action NOW from government to take things seriously, stop just talking the talk and start walking the walk.

My plan success story

1. Now you’ve marked your plan a success, what about it makes you most proud?

We’ve changed our forms so this new question wasn’t answered.

2. What challenges did you face on your journey and what have you learned?

Australia is a BIG country and to cycle solo around it is a huge undertaking. The people of Australia, wherever I went, were incredibly supportive of what I was doing and I believe it will be this attitude that will help us negotiate the times ahead and help create a better community in the end.

3. What are some ways that PlanBig has helped you?

For me personally, PlanBig has been instrumental in getting my message out – the PR support I have received has been awesome. The community has been very supportive as well especially while I was formulating my Big Plan.

4. Is there anything else you'd like to share?

A very big thank you to the great people at Edelman [and of course the Bendigo & Adelaide banks] for helping me do this thing that was so important to me that I do and making sure that what I did did in fact make a difference! You guys rock!!!!
