About me

Things you should know about me:

I am passionate about human rights, about the promotion of human dignity and the abolition of poverty. One of my great loves is Africa - having lived on this incredible continent I have a deep desire to help those in need there, and to show the world what an amazing place it is - filled with strong, capable, amazing people! I am interested in working towards a more sustainable and dignified future for Africans, particularly women, and helping their voice and views to be heard wherever possible. This begins with my plans for Amepouh but will hopefully eventually expand in all kinds of ways, to include finding long term funding for organizations which does NOT include aid as a primary source (read Dambisa Moyo's "Dead Aid" to get a greater sense of what I'm talking about here). I also love the performing arts (singing, dancing, acting, etc) and would love to incorporate this into education programs and mental health programs, as I believe that performance strengthens self esteem and promotes well-being - I certainly get a rush of endorphins whenever I get to sing!

What I'm interested in:

Human Rights, Activism, Travel, Singing (Broadway, Jazz, Funk, etc...) , Dancing, Acting, Reading awesome books (classics, non-fiction, contemporary fiction, the list goes on...) Writing, Meeting new people, Comedy, Watching Docos, Sleep!

Things I am good at:

I have degrees in Human Rights Law & Policy, as well as International Studies. I speak German and French, have many years of speech and drama training and performing, and am skilled in written and spoken communication. I have experience working with NGOs both in Australia and in West Africa. I am building a network of contacts from a variety of different fields, and would definitely count people skills as a useful attribute. I am currently working in comms and engagement for an Australian Government agency.
