Plan Description:

Our vision is a world where people view potential where they once saw waste. Dismantle will use bicycles as a medium for generating long-term social change. It will be... A member based communal bicycle workshop. A bicycle op-shop. A community hub. A hands-on learning centre.

My Big reasons are:

We believe in a brighter future. A future where people recognize the boundless potential of everything and everyone. Through community based, social initiatives we empower people to view opportunity where they once saw waste. Dismantle: break old habits, build bright futures. Our vision is to… * Create a vibrant and friendly community hub, that celebrates sustainability, creativity, diversity and equality. * Promote mental and physical health at a community level. * Encourage alternative transport and environmental friendly living. * Provide a vibrant learning centre for people of all ages. * Establish a vital social link for disadvantaged and isolated members of the community. * Nurture innovative thinking and creativity. * Put value back into objects that are seen as disposable and reduce waste.

My plan will be a success when:

1.The streets of Freo and beyond are crawling with recycled bicycles. 2. People recognise and believe in the potential of everything and everyone. 3. the word useless is removed from the dictionary.

My plan success story

1. Now you’ve marked your plan a success, what about it makes you most proud?

The fact that it has combined the energy and insight of a whole team of individuals who have worked together for the benefit of the community.

2. What challenges did you face on your journey and what have you learned?

It took a year and half from concept to delivery of this project. It was a year and a half of volunteering approximatelly 20-30hrs per week, so needless to say it was a massive juggle to balance employment, study and a huge commitment to my project. It was the toughest year of my life. The thing that kept me going was a unwavering belief that this plan would succeed. And the fact that I love the concept of what I am trying to achieve. Without that belief in the direction I was taking I would have had no way of succeeding.

3. What are some ways that PlanBig has helped you?

Plan big provided me with a network of interested people who offered timely advice to my plan.

4. Is there anything else you'd like to share?

A massive thanks must go to Brookfield Multiplex for their huge sponsorship of this project. Thanks for entrusting Dismantle with your support.
