Plan Description:

The goal improve outcomes for kids living in care through an extensive and intensive support service which is unparalled focusing on the needs of all kids in care begining at entry point in to the system, targeting mental health, special needs, socail skills, self worth, life skills and individuals ability to transition from care to independant living succesfully with the aim of children leading fullfilling and rewarding life's

My Big reasons are:

i Founded Angels for the forgotten on 17/12/2010, i am motivated by my history as a child who entered care due to chronic child abuse .in my 4 years in the foster care system i had over 144 moves including placements in refuges , foster homes and boarding schools. life in care is so hard but sadly kids in care are to often ignored. national statistics prove that kids in care have poorer life outcomes when compared to their peers. with out significant and focused supports these kids sadly end up in jail, on the streets, in drug facilities or living with a life of mental health issues and this is just the tip of the very large ice berg. Did you know supports for children with mental illness under 12 are virtually non existant? these kids suffer for years before they are eligable to recieve help by 12 it could be to late. Did you know the majority of kids in care will exit care at age 18 with out sufficent skills or resources to be succesful in life, often silently living with trauma and years of mental anguish which has often been left unaided. did you know the majority of kids who leave care end up on the streets, homless, drug or alcohol affected, job less, in domestic violence, in jail and sometimes DEAD due to suicide or overdose. statistics in this area are disgusting and sad to say the least . out of the 100+ kids i went through the care system with just 12 years ago only 4 of us lead close to normal lives. over 1/4 are dead over 1/2 are in jail or constantly in and out of jail , all have some form of mental illness, all struggle to get assistance with dealing with their past trauma's. SIMPLY THIS IS NOT OK To change the bleak out look for our society and the pressures on our mental health, allied health and justice systems nd future generations we need to support our children NOW. PREVENTION IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN CURE. We cant change the sad abusive lives these children have already lived but we can change their outlook on life and help them to lead succesfull and rewarding lives.

My plan will be a success when:

Overall it will be a success when the kids and carers who access the service are growing and exhibiting change and are excited about being succesful in life. mini goals on the road to overall success: success when: the community donate items for crisis care packages (ACHIEVED). Success when: we have a steady army of volunteers Success when: we ensure every kid entering care recieves a crisis care pack and mental health information (ON OUR WAY) Success when : we create community awareness about the lives and needs of kids in care (ON OUR WAY) Success when: we get a place where we can set up Angels house, Sucess when : we provide care packages to each state and we have a branch in every state of australia (ON OUR WAY). success when: when we raise at least $100,000 to run the envisaged intensive programs.

My plan success story

1. Now you’ve marked your plan a success, what about it makes you most proud?

Every day i am mazed at how much we have achieved. what we would take 3 years took 12 mnths. the thing that makes me most proud is hearing feed bck from cients, agencys and those who follow what we do . company recently sid in an interveiw they choose to support us because they could see tht we are actually making a difference right now, for me that was wonderful because that is exactly wht we aimed to do . make a deifference right now for kids and youth in crisis or care during their time of need.

2. What challenges did you face on your journey and what have you learned?

our biggest challenge was doing it all with out start up capital, having to work hard every day for what we wouldnt to achieve, it was a great lesson though because if and when we got slack we knew that if we didnt work for it we wouldnt get it .

so we remained focused nd always worked hard and never doubted our own abilitys.

3. What are some ways that PlanBig has helped you?

plan big helped us to make connections with people who could assist our plan. the encouragment alone helped us through the times when we felt maybe it was just all to hard.

it ws great to know other where there cheering us along the whole time.

4. Is there anything else you'd like to share?

we would like to thank everyone who has assisted us over the past 12 months, we have many more goals and now that we are established we have so much we can achieve. marking our plan as a success by no way means the end of our work.

our success would not be possible with out the support of ALL our donors, contributors, those who gave words of wisdom or encouragment or a simple share or like in the socail media world.

we are only a success because of everyones efforts and we are for ever grateful.
